A pharmacist is a qualified and registered health professional who hold a degree in pharmacy and who is
registered by the Australian Health Practioner Agency
The role of the pharmacist includes
- preparing and dispensing medicines, oinments and tablets
- advice patients on the quality use of medicines. This includes the safest and most effective way to treat their conditions
- collaborate with medical practioners
- advice the public and other health professionals about the optimal use of medicines including
- dose
- drug interactions
- potential side effects
- therapeutic effects
- provide primary care
- supply equipment such as crutches and wound care products
